ISO 16949

ISO 16949 – «Quality management systems for automotive production» – describes requirements to the quality management systems of the companies that are engaged in projecting, designing, production, installation and maintenance of automobile products.

ISO/TS 16949 is appropriate for automobile companies-suppliers of all types, from small producers to international organizations that have branches all over the world.

Goals of ISO/TS 16949 are:

  • Constant improvement;
  • Defect prevention;
  • Reduction of variations and losses in a supply chain.

Certification for compliance with the requirements of ISO/TS 16949 has certain advantages:

  1. Reduction of wastes and minimization of defects. Realization of this point is based on the implementation of process approach. Due to its application, company gets the possibility to increase effectiveness of production processes and, as a consequence, to reduce quantity of penalty and consumption of resources and time.
  2. License for trade operations. Certification is a compulsory condition for almost all automobile companies, because this system simplifies the business operations, because it is acknowledged all over the world.
  3. Simplicity and flexibility of application. ISO/TS 16949 is designed on the basis of ISO 9001 standard,  that is why it is compatible with other management systems, already implemented, like OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001. Implementation of ISO/TS 16949 needs less financial and time expenses, but provides good perspectives for further development of the business.
  4. Maintenance of the reputation of good trade mark. Partners and clients of the organization are interested in the quality of company’s products. That is why certificate of the compliance with the requirements of ISO/TS 16949 means high quality of the products and indicates the stability of the company-supplier.
  5. Reduction of expenses due to lack of necessity of duplication. Compliance certificate ISO/TS16949 can release you from necessity of getting similar documents, such as EAQF, AVSF, QS-9000 etc.

Conduct of an audit by second and third parties is not obligatory.
