ISO 14006: integration of environmental aspects into the design and development

The international standard ISO 14006: 2011 is guidance for service and industrial organizations on introduction of eco-design in the environmental management system, quality management system and other management systems. It is intended to help organizations establish, document, implement, maintain and continually improve their management of ecodesign as part of an environmental management system. The standard is applicable to all environmental aspects of the products or services that are offered by organizations.

Like the other standards of the International Organization for Standardization, ISO 14006: 2011 can be used by any organization regardless of its size, activity, geographical location, etc. Primarily standard is designed for those organizations that have implemented an environmental management system according to ISO 14001. However, it will be useful for everyone, without exception, companies that wish to reduce the negative impact of its products on the environment. Moreover, according to the developers themselves, the purpose of eco-design is a clean planet and environmentally net production.

In the case of the introduction of ecodesign organization gets a number of advantages, including the attraction of new investments, foster innovation, improve of public image, increased competitiveness, reduction of financial liabilities and etc.
